Recordor

Terms of Service

Last updated: May 25, 2026

Acceptance

By creating an account or otherwise using Recordor (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Recordor is operated by Samuel Eddy, sole proprietor. References to “we” or “us” mean the operator.

What the Service is

Recordor is a memorization tool for prayers, Scripture, doctrine, and other content you choose to study or upload. It uses spaced repetition, voice recital with speech-to-text grading, and AI-assisted course generation.

The Service is free during the current development build. If we introduce paid tiers in the future, pricing and what each tier includes will be clearly disclosed before you are charged.

Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
  • You agree to keep your credentials private and not share your account.
  • One account per human. Accounts may not be shared or transferred.
  • You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, email us right away.

Your content

You keep ownership of whatever you upload, paste, or otherwise add to your account (“Your Content”). By using the Service, you grant Recordor a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store Your Content, process it (including for text-to-speech rendering, speech-to-text grading, and AI extraction into study material), and display it back to you inside the app.

This license exists only so we can operate the Service for you. We do not:

  • Sell Your Content.
  • Share Your Content with third parties beyond the sub-processors listed in our Privacy Policy.
  • Use Your Content to train AI models for other customers.

You agree not to upload:

  • Copyrighted material you do not have the right to upload.
  • Defamatory, harassing, or threatening content.
  • Material prohibited by law, including child sexual abuse material.
  • Malware, exploits, or content designed to attack our infrastructure or other users.

We may remove content that violates these Terms and, in serious cases, suspend or close the account responsible.

Platform content

Recordor also provides curated Catholic content — prayers, Scripture passages, Mass translations, doctrinal courses, and other curricula. That content remains the property of Recordor or its respective rights holders. You may use it for non-commercial personal study. You may not redistribute, resell, or rebuild a competing product from it.

Third-party content

Some content displayed inside the Service is published under permission from third-party rights holders. Where required, attribution appears on the pages where that content is shown.

Scripture (NABRE). Scripture passages quoted in the Service come from the New American Bible, Revised Edition, under the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' standard permission for quotation. The required notice:

Scripture texts in this work are taken from the New American Bible, revised edition © 2010, 1991, 1986, 1970 Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, Washington, D.C. All Rights Reserved. Used by permission. All rights reserved worldwide.

Acceptable use

  • Do not abuse the AI features. No prompt-injection or jailbreak attempts. Do not use the AI to fabricate non-Catholic teaching and present it as Catholic doctrine.
  • Do not scrape the Service or access it through automated means without our written permission.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt the Service, probe for vulnerabilities, or interfere with other users.
  • Do not use the Service to impersonate another person or organization.

AI-generated content disclaimer

The Service uses large language models (currently Anthropic Claude) to extract and generate study material from content you provide. AI output can be wrong. It can hallucinate, mis-summarize, or misstate doctrine in subtle ways.

For anything religiously material — doctrine, sacramental form, Scripture quotation — verify what the app shows against the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the teaching authority of your parish or diocese before relying on it. Recordor is a study aid, not a magisterial source.

No medical, legal, or spiritual-direction advice

The Service is not a substitute for a spiritual director, priest, catechist, deacon, doctor, therapist, or lawyer. It does not provide professional advice of any kind. If you need that kind of guidance, talk to a qualified person.

Termination

You can close your account at any time by emailing samuelgeddy@gmail.com. A self-service close-account flow is on the roadmap.

We may suspend or terminate an account that we reasonably believe is abusing the Service, violating these Terms, or putting other users or the platform at risk. Where reasonable and lawful, we will give notice before doing so.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Recordor and Samuel Eddy will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars (US$100).

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Recordor and Samuel Eddy from any claim or demand made by a third party arising out of (a) content you uploaded to the Service, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, where the operating entity is organized, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you consent to their personal jurisdiction.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the product evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and email registered users at the address on file. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
